Surface Design Group 2008 Challenge Reveal

I belong to a local Surface Design Group that basically meets monthly when we can.

Each year a challenge is set forth and for 2008, the challenge was to be 5x7 pieces that would be traded with the others who participated. There were 6 of us who participated, so that meant making 6 pieces. One to keep the rest to trade. The theme was "Far-Fetched."

Here is the attribution that was attached to the back of each piece:

(To have completed this any sooner
would have truly been far-fetched!)

Far-fetched materials all obtained
from a hardware store include;
Shingle samples,
Siding samples,
Wire, and Washers.

The pieces were completed the night before as is the case for all of my challenge pieces and I didn't want to break the tradition with these.

So this is the original one that I created and kept for myself.

To view the other pieces I made click on the slide show below.

Superior Threads Giveaway

So Superior Threads is having a giveaway that is listed on their blog. It involves putting them on my sidebar, which I did and then mentioning the give away on my blog.. So I did that here as well. We quilters will do anything for a free giveaway! Actually the owner's wife, Heather was in a dye class that I took with Carol Soderlund a couple of years ago. I'm not sure that she'd remember me. She sat on the other side of the room and was in a different "stirring" group.. but just in case she's reading, maybe I'll win for mentioning that.

Ok, the deed is done... for the non-quilters, bear with me... my grandson should be born any minute (literally) so there will certainly be pictures coming as soon as he gets here.
